No Powergaming or Metagaming
Metagaming and powergaming are very unfair toward other players and can potentially ruin roleplay, therefore the offenses are treated very seriously.
Metagaming can be defined as using Out of Character (OOC) information In Character (IC).
For example:
1. Using an OOC chat like /b, /o, /pm or external applications like Skype, Steam or Xfire to contact someone and distribute IC information.
2. Using someone's nametag to gain IC information about him/her while you've never met ICly.
3. Using Smileys like: "xD :3 " in the IC chat.
Powergaming can be defined as two things. One of them is forcing actions upon a player, the other is doing superhuman and unrealistic actions.
For example:
1. Using a /me and forcing the action to be successful without letting the other party respond. (Point 1)
2. Roleplaying lifting up a vehicle with one hand and throwing it away. (Point 2)
Fornville Roleplay administrators will punish you if they deem your actions unrealistic, supernatural, or unfair towards another party. This includes but is not limited to:
Swimming without the right attire. - For example, on a casual day most people would not swim fully clothed to a public fishing boat in a bay.
Olympic Swimming. - Swimming (while fully clothed) for long periods of time, without roleplaying any physical exhaustion whatsoever.
Non-RPly changing clothes.
Non-Rply adding NOS/hydraulics or Non-RPly respraying spraying a vehicle.
Bunnyhopping. - Repeatedly pressing the jump key to get around faster on foot.
Not roleplaying injuries once your HP is below 50.
Not roleplaying fear. - Showing a lack of emotions in situations were people would normally be very frightened.
Ramboing. - Running towards someone while they are opening fire upon you.
Chickenrunning. - Running away from someone whilst running back and forth, jumping around or equivalent, while they opening fire upon you.
Provoking. - Intentionally harassing other players so that they will retaliate.
Ninjajacking. - Pressing "f" or "enter" to jack someone's vehicle without roleplaying your actions.
Quitting the game to avoid roleplay, as in real life your body wouldn't just disappear.
Tapping a certain key while riding a (motor)bike to gain a large and unrealistic speed increase.
Taking the reefer out of Palomino bay. - It is unfair toward other players who wish to use it.
Using side-job vehicles for personal use. - It is unfair towards players wishing to use the vehicles for their intended purpose.
Payday Rushing (PR). - Players are expected to walk in and out of the townhall as well as inside. Running or jogging is considered unrealistic.
Driver-shooting. - Using Grand theft auto's drive by mechanic, as the driver of a vehicle is not allowed due to the excessive damage it causes compared to on foot gun usage.
Asspulling. - Taking out a weapon without the use of a /me or /do.
Carsurfing. - Standing on top of a driving vehicle.
Punishments may vary depending on the severity and frequency of offenses are commited by a player.
2.
No Death Matching (DM).
You may not kill players without any- or a weak reason.
Deathmatching is when you are Killing / inflicting injuries upon a player for a reason that does not justify such extreme actions, or without a reason at all.
Murders/shootouts/brawls are to be be fully roleplayed.
Other offenses related to deathmatching that are strictly prohibited include, but are not limited to:
Revenge Killing. - Killing a player who has previously killed you. Returning to the scene of your death for any reason (e.g, retrieving your vehicle) is not allowed and you should wait until the situation has come to an end before returning to the area. This includes doing these things with an alternative character.
Helicopter-blade Killing - Killing other players with Grand Theft Auto's Helicopter blade kill mechanic is not allowed due to it being extremely unrealistic.
Car-parking/Car-ramming - Using a vehicle to ram or park on top of somebody with the intention to injure/kill them without a valid reason and without the use of any roleplay.
Terrorist Roleplay - Roleplay acts like suicide-bombing, Kamikaze attacks and etc are strictly prohibited unless you have permission from an administrator.
Bomb Roleplay - If someone wishes to RP a bomb, they need admin permission for it. In order to obtain admin permission you must provide screenshots of in depth roleplay of making the bomb and the /time should be included. You must make the bomb yourself, unless you are in a faction that has access to these kind of weaponry like DNS and the State Police (C4 charges etc).
.
Depending on the severity of the offense, punishments may vary from a date ban to a permanent ban.
3.
Character Kills (CK) cannot be forced upon a player.
Every player must agree to the CK OOCly
A Character kill is when you agree to have your character's life ended and must get a namechange using /changemyname and begin to roleplay a completely new character. You may not bring back a previously CKed character.
By entering the Department of National Security's Base (DNS) or the restricted areas surrounding your character is automatically CKed in the event of you being killed by members of the Department of National Security. By entering the restricted area, you automatically accept a CK.
Committing suicide to avoid roleplay/arrest results in a CK. Suicides must be fully roleplayed.
Committing suicide to avoid Roleplay/arrest with Non-RP actions and clear intentions of getting out of a situation will result in a temporary ban AND a CK.
For example:
Jumping of a cliff without any roleplay
Drowning yourself without any roleplay
Staying in your vehicle whilst it is on fire with the clear intention to die and get out of the situation. (If the vehicle damage was caused by a separate party you should get out either way and roleplay your injuries.)
Using /kill
REMEMBER:
If your character has not died scriptwise, and you decide to roleplay dead, it means that your character will be CK'ed. If you have inflicted heavy injuries thanks to a second party (Such as a shooter, driver, ect), you must ask them OOCly if you can roleplay dead- In which it will be a regular PK.
.
Forcing a CK on someone when you do not have the authority to do so will result in a temporary ban and also the CK will be invalid.
4.
You must remain In Character at all times, unless specified otherwise by an Administrator.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Abusing the IC chat to OOCly to troll another player
Jumping around aimlessly with no RP involved
Skipping / voiding roleplay situations without administrative permission.
You may only ask for the reason of arrests ICly and may not turn the situation from IC to OOC by questioning the police in the /b chat.
You have the right to call a moderator/administrator if you feel that you are getting wrongly arrested, however arrests are an IC matter and should be dealt with ICly, including false arrests.
Exeption to this rule:
Events hosted by the admin team are completely OOC unless otherwise specified. As such, we ask that players who are involved in these events use out of character chats, such as /b. The administrative team does not like people mixing in character information with out of character situations. Note that if the event is organised in an IC manner and the administrator is not on admin duty, then the event is not OOC.
.
Those who are found to be breaching this rule will be admin jailed. Persistent rulebreakers will be banned from the server.
5.
CLEO mods are allowed as long as they don't fall under the definition of a hacking tool.
Hacks are strictly prohibited.
The use of CLEO mods is allowed given that the mod(s) do not give an advantage over another player. Mods like these are considered acceptable:
First person mod
ELM (for emergency factions only)
Streamfixes
ENB series
Radar mods
Mods that give you weapons, health, money, teleports or advantages similar to hack programs are prohibited. Tools like camhack are only allowed with permission from a Lead Administrator or higher.
.
Using a CLEO mod that could be considered a hack will lead to an immediate permanent ban. There are systems in place to detect speed/fly hacks etc and it is impossible to spawn money.
6.
Spamming
General rules about Spamming you need to know.
You may not spam any IC chats.
The reasoning behind this rule should be quite clear. Other players intend to roleplay around you and the spamming of a chat will make it more difficult for them to do so. As such, action will be taken against spammers. The use of keybinds is not exempt from this rule, unless the bind has meaningful information in it.
Do not spam commands such as /report.
Administrators have multiple duties in which they need to adhere to. We understand that players who are breaking the rules can be frustrating but admins will usually have a queue of things they must attend to first. Rest assured that your report will be looked at.
Spam-robbing and spam-scamming is not allowed.
You are allowed to scam and rob players, although scamming / robbing should not be treated as a sidejob. If you are short of cash, please use the sidejobs which are provided on the server, instead of repeating mentioned actions.
Spam robbing and spam scamming is defined as repeatedly and intentionally using the SAME method to conduct crime to gain cash. Robberies and scams are enticed to be fully roleplayed and thought out before their conduction. Players are limited to two major scams a week and one major robbery a day. Administrative permission may be given to continue past these limits with proof of pre-meditated RP. You may, however rob several people at once in a situation of needed crowd control without breaching this rule.
.
This offense will vary from a kick to an admin jail, persistent rulebreakers may be temporarily banned.
7.
OOC chats.
General rules about the OOC Chats you need to know.
OOC is an English-only chat. Use PM's to speak in other languages.
This may seem like a strange rule, however, this is the language that administrators can police properly. The use of other languages makes the administration staff assume that you are speaking about rule breaking and as such will take action against you. You might be denied access to the server if your English abilities are not capable enough.
No flaming or insulting in OOC chats.
This includes directly or indirectly insulting a player, namecalling of any degree, the use of racial slurs and sectarian comments or any other form of discrimination. We aim to keep the server a friendly place and you should adjust your attitude to that.
.
These offenses will vary between a kick or permanent ban, depending on the situation.
8.
Administrative decisions are final, full stop.
Any decision a member of the Administrative team makes ingame or on the forums is final. If you find that a specific Administrator has made an unjust or bias decision you are free to make an admin complaint, however you must always obey their instructions regardless of what you think of them.
.
If an Administrator finds you have breached this rule, you may be punished according to the situation at hand.
9.
Money farming is prohibited on this server.
Creating accounts for the sole reason of gaining money is not something that would be possible in real life and as such we have deemed it to be unacceptable.
.
Those who are found to have been money farming will be temporarily banned.
10.
No advertising other servers or services (You may not create things like a TeamSpeak server etc) unless you have atleast a Lead Admins aproval.
Fornville Roleplay does not approve of services that were made for, but not by itself. The reliability of such services may not be sufficient and may harm the reputation of our server and community.
.
Those who are found to have created websites/servers related to FVRP without administrator approval will be banned.
11.
The robbery limit is $50,000 and the scamming limit is $10,000.
We feel that it is unrealistic and unfair for players to be robbed/scammed of amounts that exceed those stated above. It can be difficult for players to make significant money in the server and we feel that there should be some protection of the funds gained by the players. The player being robbed / scammed MUST be level three or higher, aswell as the one robbing / scamming.
.
Exceeding the limits, aswell as robbing a player under level 3 / while being under level 3 will result in an admin jail.
12.
You are not allowed to raid government headquarters such as the Dillimore Police Department and the DNS Base unless permission from a Lead Administrator or the leader of the faction is given.
Even though these actions are possible at any given time in real life, we have decided to place a restriction on them in the interest of fairness. In addition to requiring permission from an online Administrator or the faction leader, you must present a good IC reason for these actions. You must also be prepared to provide proof of the permission to raid the building if you are asked for it.
.
If you raid a government building without permission, you may receive a punishment which could vary from a date ban to a permanent ban, depending on the severity.
13.
You may not rob any player who is level 1 or 2.
Conversely you may not rob nor assist in robberies until you are level 3 in the interests of fairness.
.
Those who are found to be breaching this rule will be admin jailed.
14.
You may not force any player into a roleplay with sexual harassment, unless both parties agree OOC'ly.
Due to the fact that many players find roleplaying sexual activities disturbing and/or disgusting, you have to ask the person you wish to roleplay with if they wish to participate. Pedophilia and Incest behaviour however is not allowed at all.
.
Those who are found to be breaching this rule will be temporarily banned.
15.
Killing after a Robbery / Scam is disallowed, unless the victim accepts the kill via /do.
It is deemed to be highly unrealistic to kill / inflict deadly injuries to a person you earlier robbed, just to make them unable to contact the police later. Also, the order of mentioned actions does not matter - you are not allowed to rob a person you killed / inflicted deadly injuries to.
.
Those who are found to be breaching this rule will be warned and admin jailed, and the PK will be invalid.
16.
The revelation of the presence or existence of a secret faction is strictly forbidden.
This includes, but is not limited to, saying in any OOC chat that they are there. Their names both character and forum names are to be kept secret if they are to be discovered. If in any way you are enlightened or are aware about the OOC identity of any members of a secret faction you must inform an administrator.
Within FVRP there are a number of secret factions, not all are OOCly hidden as factions but their members and actions are, an example of this is:
The Department of National Secrity
The IC revelation of their name is not breaching this rule; however there is a strict definition as to how you may reveal them. For example: You MAY say that their names ICly and you MAY inform others of their presence ICly.
This encourages players to metagame and under no circumstances will it be accepted.
.
The breach of this rule could result in a permanent ban. The variation on the punishment is completely circumstantial.
17.
You may use the advertisement function to barter for illicit merchandise as long as the advertisement is cleverly masked.
Due to the fact that dealing illegal items on the streets is growing more and more difficult within the server, it has been decided that players may once again create advertisements to buy and sell illegal merchandise. Please bear in mind that the advertisements must be cleverly masked or else they will be considered Non-RP.
.
Players who are found creating blatant illegal advertisements may be punished in the form of a kick or an admin jail.
18.
Binds
General rules about binds you need to know.
You may not use binds which serve for more than one purpose.
They confuse other players as they have to guess which action is currently happening.
Example:
Alec Rae [holsters/unholsters] his [Desert eagle/9mm].
Alec Rae takes out a [AK-47/Shotgun/M4/MP5] From the trunk.
Binds that include the "/briefcase get", "/briefcase store" etcetera command in them are also not allowed.
A bind works way quicker than it's physically possible to unlock a briefcase, making the binds more or less powergaming.
If you decide to store something in your briefcase, you have to keep it in your hand - if you RP storing the weapon in a sportsbag or a backpack, then don't use /briefcase store. A briefcase is a briefcase, and may not be roleplayed as anything else unless you hold it in your hand.
.
Those who use binds of this nature will be kicked from the server and forced to remove the bind in question.
19.
You may not roleplay your character being younger than 16 under any circumstances.
The youngest age allowed to RP is 16, this is also the youngest age you can set to your character when you register it.
.
Violating this rule will end up with an admin warning you. Continuing to violate the rule after the warning might end up with bigger punishments.
20.
In game objects may not be sold for Real life cash.
Selling in-game properties/money/vehicles for real life cash, or buying properties/money/vehicles with it is not allowed.
Selling Master accounts or Donator Levels for real life or In-Game cash is also strictly prohibited.
.
Violating this rule wil result in a permanent ban.
21.
You may not distribute faction weapons.
Only arm dealers may distribute weapons to everyone in the server to regulate the amount of them and to decrease weapon use in general ( Rule effects factions with /weapons ).
.
Those found breaking this rule will be permanently banned from the server.
22.
Stealing goods script-wise during house burglaries or by hijacking a car's trunk when it is locked is not allowed.
You're free to roleplay such actions (stealing stored stuff such as drugs, weapons, cash etc.), but you may do it only for RP's sake, not to gain profit from it. Note: If the asset owner OOCly agrees to give you his goods, you're allowed to take them. You can not force him into doing that though. More info here.
.
Punishments may vary from a warning and the assets being given back to the original owner to an admin jail.
23.
Roleplaying as any animal such as: Dogs or Cats is strictly forbidden.
There is no fair and justifyable way of roleplaying an animal, be it dog or domestic cat. The reason being that it is completely unclear as to how you would roleplay as such and that other players would be unknowing to whether a player was human or animal. Due to this you are not allowed to RP as an animal at all.
You may:
RP an animal for domestic use.
RP the animal for police and searching purposes
Use animals as a detail to surrounding areas of RP.
RP animal violence against another RPed animals
You may NOT:
RP an animal for violence against other players.
RP animals that you may ride.
Do not request permissions to RP animals and/or name changes to animal ones from administrators, they will ignore you.
.
If a player is found roleplaying an animal they will be asked to stop, and kicked if no response has been given.
24.
Due to the interest of fairness, members of law enforcement factions are not allowed to hand out fines that exceed the limit for a certain level.
Level 1: 10,000$,
Level 2-3: 20,000$,
Level 4-5: 30,000$,
Level 5 and higher - 60.000$.
.
Rulebreakers will be punished with an admin jail, and will be forced to refund the amount over the limit to the one they fined.
25.
You may not use or hotwire the Sprunk Comet or Mick's Monster.
The Sprunk Comet can be found at the Sprunk factory in Montgomery. Mick's Monster can be found at Mick's Motors in Dillimore. These vehicles have been placed there for aesthetic purposes, not for public use.
.
Rulebreakers will be punished with a kick, or an admin jail depending on the situation.
26.
Everyone must have their own Master Account
It has been decided that Master Accounts cannot be shared between players. Your Master Account is for you, and you alone. You are also limited to only one Master Account.
.
Players found breaking this rule will be permanently banned and their Master Account(s) will be disabled.
27.
You may not name your character after a famous person.
This includes actors, movie characters, politicians, artists, athletes and so on.
We understand that people tend to have the same names in real life but it has been decided to not be allowed on the server for various reasons.
.
Players found breaking this rule will be forced to immediately change the name of the character in question. Failure to do so may lead to severe punishment.
28.
You may not position house furniture to give yourself an OOC advantage above other players.
This includes but is not limited to setting up unrealistic barricades at the front doors of houses, exploiting objects with invisible and visible sides and etc.
.
Players found breaking this rule will be banned from the sever and their house(s) will be confiscated.
29.
If an item is script wise in your possession, it is in your possession.
If you are searched and are carrying any items that the searching player wishes to confiscate; you may -NOT- RP that the item is elsewhere. There are plenty of script opportunities to store weapons/drugs/money inside houses; vehicles and briefcases, the only exceptions to this rule are the following items:
Briefcase
M4
AK
Sniper Rifle
Shotgun
Spas 12
Country Rifle
These weapons are large weapons and it would be hard to conceal them on your person. This insinuates that the carrier has the weapon stored elsewhere unless it is specifically stated otherwise. A screenshot may be given to show the RP hiding of the weapon; however, it must show the "/time" of when the weapon was stored. This screenshot must be sent to the searching player via forum PM.
.
The breach of this rule will result in the item being removed from you; repeated breaches will lead to a temporary ban.
30.
Using OOC methods to escape roleplay is strictly forbidden.
Escaping roleplay after it has been started is strictly forbidden, it ruins the roleplay for all parties involved. You are not allowed to leave a roleplay without permission from an administrator or the other parties involved.
You may not:
/q to avoid a roleplay situation
/logout to avoid a roleplay situation
/afk to avoid a roleplay situation
Have an administrator teleport you.
The time frame that allows you to leave a roleplay is 20 minutes. If you are being chase by the police you may not leave the server or /afk until the 20 minute timer is up as such it will be classified as "Escaping" roleplay.
.
Breaching this rule will result in a date ban, permanent if a repeated offense.
31.
Once fired from a government faction by Superior Court of San Andreas, you may not rejoin with a different name as the same rank.
When caught with proper evidence, you may not rejoin a government faction with a different name and the same rank. This defeats the purpose of going through the court system to fire a government official(s).
You may not:
Re-join a government faction with a different name and keep the same rank after being fired by Superior Court of San Andreas.
You may:
Re-join a government faction with a different name but not with the same rank as the previous character.
.
Breaching these rules will vary a removal of you from the government faction(s). Continuing to do this will result in a permanent removal of yourself(s) in the government faction.
32.
Respecting others.
We aim to keep the community a nice place and in order for us to do so some basic rules need to be put into place.
These include, but are not limited to:
Disrespecting members of the community.
Disrespecting administrators.
Communicating with others with the sole intention of insulting them/upsetting them.
Participating in an argument with the sole intention of insulting those involved.
Provoking other community members/administrators.
.
Punishments may vary from a kick to a permanent ban depending on the situation.
33.
No OOC lying.
Out of character lying is strictly forbidden. You may not under any circumstances OOCly lie about anything to anyone.
.
Punishment may vary from a date ban to a permanent ban, depending on the situation.
34.
You need to roleplay using illegal substances when using the /usedrug command.
By using the /usedrug command, some substances give you advantages like an armour or health boost. By only using the system to purely gain that boost, and not roleplaying the side-effects, it is considered as abusing.
.
This offense will result in an admin jail. Persistent rule breakers may be permanently banned form the server.
35.
IC Language.
Words/small sentences in a foreign language might be okay, but not long sentences and complete conversations. You should use a tag implying what language your character is speaking. For example: [Spanish] I'm talking Spanish right now.
.
This offense will result in an admin jail. Persistent rule breakers may be permanently banned form the server.
Metagaming and powergaming are very unfair toward other players and can potentially ruin roleplay, therefore the offenses are treated very seriously.
